THE BRINTON MUSEUM

about jon

I was born in Kansas, grew up in Wyoming and made friends with the wind and open spaces.

I attended college at the University of Wyoming BFA/MFA 1973 majoring in Art.  I then had a 25-year job in computers to support a family and my “painting habit”.    I taught beginning Drawing and Watercolor classes for the University of Wyoming Art Department, from 1998 – 2007.

I am interested in picturing visual sensations, something like the feeling one gets from a glance at this moment, of the world we are passing through. I have been actively entering competitive shows, and have had a few one-person shows.  I received Wyoming Arts Council Fellowships for the years 2000 and 2006.

I am now retired, still painting and living in Laramie, WY.

The Brinton Museum is located on the historic Quarter Circle A Ranch in Big Horn, Wyoming and features 19th, 20th & 21st century Western & American Indian Art in a setting that is art unto itself. Jon's work is for sale in The Brinton Museum gift shop.
